A Comedy of Misdirection

SYNOPSIS

A play in two acts written in rhyme. It concerns a brother and sister (Gary and Mary) who act as matchmaker for two hapless friends (Ted and Alice). Things don’t go to plan.

BACKGROUND

I saw a few restoration comedies when younger. I liked the pace and attack with which they were performed. Also, the very real sense of fun among the actors.  When I first started to consider writing a play, I had this in mind. I wanted to recreate that joy of performance.

Normally, I would plan out such a large piece. However, in this case, I just let the story unfold.
